So. Yeah, I know how long it's been since I posted. Thanks to a friend giving me an encouraging shove, here we are. This is solely dedicated to the new Placebo album, called Battle For The Sun. The title of this blog is from a bonus track (iTunes exclusive) called "In A Funk". I LOVE this album. I've read a lot of iTunes reviews, and I've not had that great of laugh in a long time. Most of them bitch and moan about Brain Mlko's lack of creativity, given the repetitiveness of his lyrics, and obviously, they didn't bother listening to Placebo for the last 15 years. It is what he does. Some of his lyrics are meaniful and well thought through, others are meant to be a hook that gets stuck in your head for DAYS. And a lot of them at that. I have devoted time daily to drumming "Breathe Underwater", and have remixed their title track "Battle For The Sun", as well as "Julien". They are both available for FREE DOWNLOAD on either Myspace or Facebook. Your choice. Hell, email me at breydeb@hotmail.com and I'll personally send you a copy. Anyways, get this album. However you have to. If you can't afford it, well.... you didn't get THIS from me.... Here is the remix of Julien I just finished.

What Do You Know!?!?!
PUSCIFER(pronounced Lucifer, but with a P). The solo project of Maynard James Keenan. If you don't know who that is, you haven't ever heard of Tool, Tapeworm, or A Perfect Circle. This man has created such a unique sound, at first you're not sure what to think, then you become completely addicted. At least 10 out of 10 friends agree... The album I got hooked on is called "V Is For Vagina". Yeah, I know. But then he released a remix album called "V Is For Viagra", which was also AMAZING. According to Maynard, there is no "original" version of any of the songs. He wants to leave it to you to decide which mix is your favorite. There are far too many musicians involved in this project to list, but there are a lot of them that are personal favorites of mine. Take the time to check them out, they are AMAZING. Here is a live video of them performing "The Mission" live in Las Vegas, featuring Mila Jovovich (The Fifth Element, Resident Evil) on vocals.

Battle For The Sun!
FINALLY! If you are a Placebo fan, then you know you're not the only one freaking out about the new single finally released. Not to mention that this album was originally announced as being released in January of 2008. So yeah, now we've only got to wait a few more months until the entire album is available June 8th. What's a year and half behind schedule? No biggie.
So the single is called "Battle For The Sun". Not a bad title. The album is conveniently named "Battle For The Sun". Hmmm. I love Placebo more than most, but you'd think with the budget they have they may have hired someone to get a bit more creative. Oh well. Anyways, the producer on this album is a favorite of mine, as he has worked on several Tool records. As well as Alan Moulder, who is another favorite of mine from his work with NIN, Depeche Mode, A Perfect Circle, truthfully, his list of credits go on forever, but he's great.
SO... I thought I'd go legit on this one and post you a download link that is actually being supported by the band. Go to the PLACEBO page and fill out the info and download this song for free. Yes for free. If you love it, feel free to follow the link on my previous post about Placebo for their entire discography. Let me know what you think of this song!

Boredom Got The Best Of Me...
YES. I get bored. A lot. Here's somethng fun I found that only takes a minute and is a good waste of time. I found an online poster maker. Instead of printing your photo in color and larger, which is so boring, it prints it onto multiple regular sheets of printer paper. Not to mention that the entire image is made of letters (MHJIL), numbers (98456), and signs (*&$^#%). It's kinda fun, so I thought I'd share this with you. Here is the site! Enjoy, and post your designs!

What Does It Mean To "Be One With The Universe"?
I've been having this really strange feeling the last couple of days, and I wanted to see if anyone else ever feels this way. As the title of this post suggests, I am not feeling like I am "one with the universe". Which is very unusual for me. I usually feel like I am always on a path to somewhere, that what I am doing has purpose, and that it is good. Right now I don't feel anything but strange, like I'm at a crossroad or something similar. I don't feel bad, I just don't feel right I guess. Anyone have any advice or anything similar to this happen to them? I'm all ears on this one...

Back To The Cold...
I've spent the last two weeks in beautiful California. Now I'm back in cold, dry Utah. I'm not too thrilled about it, but at least I get to play with my nephew again. The last two weeks were filled with tons of amazing experiences. I made many new friends, learned more about music, and used all of the potential I know I have. I am going to miss Tom, Jo, Sheila, Toni, Omar, Bowman, and especially Bob. It was great to see all of them, and hopefully I'll get to see them all again soon.

Omar, just being himself after a show, wearing my hat, I might add.

No Rest For The Wicked!
I haven't posted much since the night I arrived here, so I thought a quick update was necessary. Since I've been here I've gotten loads of work done on this album. It's what I do at night, every night. So needless to say, I haven't had any new adventures, just lots of work. Which is okay with me, because there is nothing more rewarding than working on someone's music that you actually like in the first place. It's great to be a part of something that you would actually pay money for, which isn't always the case. So, I've got just under half of the album done, which means that it's time to work! I miss you. You know who you are.

You've Got A Sparkle...
Wow. I've been anxious, nervous, excited, apprehensive, and looking forward to coming to LA for a while. The old grounds, a very exciting and exhausting time in my life. So here I am....
Tom picks me up at LAX on a Sunday; "Dude, it's good to see you." A sincere smile... "I made it here in 17 minutes." Amazing, to say the least. So I say, "Let's get home." We get home after talking non-stop about current events in each other's lives, I unpack and help Tom build his new IKEA bought bed that will be my place of rest for the next week and a half. We built it in my old bedroom. It feels really good. Like, really good. I've missed my red walls. Things have changed, but everything is the same. Sheila is happy as ever, doesn't bark at me, but gets so excited it looks like she's going to pee. Tom says "Hey Beano, it's your U-B!" (Uncle Breyde) I didn't think I'd miss her, but can't seem to stop cuddling her during my downtime. If you don't know who Sheila is, well, there's not much I can say. You've either met her, or you haven't.
So on my night of arrival, after getting home and building a new bed, we decide it's time for dinner and a show. After eating at "Mel's Diner",(watch American Grafitti if you don't know where this place is) we decide it's time to hit the Cast Of Kings show at The Viper Room.
When I left LA to come back to Utah, we were currently tracking vocals for Cast Of Kings. So needless to say, it was nice to see familiar faces, as well as meet the new hired guns. WOW. Again, WOW. Granted, musicians are "a dime a dozen" in LA, but these guys are truly amazing. Needless to say, when meeting the guys, I was quite flattered to hear, "Oh yeah, we've heard Tom talk about you a lot." WHAT?!?! My reply, twice, was "I'm glad I flew out here and you guys didn't suck. In fact, I loved it." Another genuine smile from both guitar players. "Floored" is the best word I can think of to describe the overall experience of the night.
AND ON TO THE MAIN EVENT...
While at the show, I met Toni, the woman I came out here to work for. Again, super nice. Granted, she's paying me, but I still think I'm a good judge of character, and she is terrific. I'm really excited to be working with her and can't wait for all of you to hear this. This will undoubtably be some of my best work.
Right now I'm working on a track that is inspiring. It's 2:30 a.m. (3:30 a.m. Utah time) and I'm making tremendous progress.
I miss my Mom, my brother's, my sister and her family, Lindsey, Longshanks, J-Bone, and Juab. I wish you could all be here with me. You'd be proud.
Keep reading for more updates...
