Back To The Cold...

I've spent the last two weeks in beautiful California. Now I'm back in cold, dry Utah. I'm not too thrilled about it, but at least I get to play with my nephew again. The last two weeks were filled with tons of amazing experiences. I made many new friends, learned more about music, and used all of the potential I know I have. I am going to miss Tom, Jo, Sheila, Toni, Omar, Bowman, and especially Bob. It was great to see all of them, and hopefully I'll get to see them all again soon.

Omar, just being himself after a show, wearing my hat, I might add.

No Rest For The Wicked!

I haven't posted much since the night I arrived here, so I thought a quick update was necessary. Since I've been here I've gotten loads of work done on this album. It's what I do at night, every night. So needless to say, I haven't had any new adventures, just lots of work. Which is okay with me, because there is nothing more rewarding than working on someone's music that you actually like in the first place. It's great to be a part of something that you would actually pay money for, which isn't always the case. So, I've got just under half of the album done, which means that it's time to work! I miss you. You know who you are.

You've Got A Sparkle...

Wow. I've been anxious, nervous, excited, apprehensive, and looking forward to coming to LA for a while. The old grounds, a very exciting and exhausting time in my life. So here I am....
Tom picks me up at LAX on a Sunday; "Dude, it's good to see you." A sincere smile... "I made it here in 17 minutes." Amazing, to say the least. So I say, "Let's get home." We get home after talking non-stop about current events in each other's lives, I unpack and help Tom build his new IKEA bought bed that will be my place of rest for the next week and a half. We built it in my old bedroom. It feels really good. Like, really good. I've missed my red walls. Things have changed, but everything is the same. Sheila is happy as ever, doesn't bark at me, but gets so excited it looks like she's going to pee. Tom says "Hey Beano, it's your U-B!" (Uncle Breyde) I didn't think I'd miss her, but can't seem to stop cuddling her during my downtime. If you don't know who Sheila is, well, there's not much I can say. You've either met her, or you haven't.
So on my night of arrival, after getting home and building a new bed, we decide it's time for dinner and a show. After eating at "Mel's Diner",(watch American Grafitti if you don't know where this place is) we decide it's time to hit the Cast Of Kings show at The Viper Room.

When I left LA to come back to Utah, we were currently tracking vocals for Cast Of Kings. So needless to say, it was nice to see familiar faces, as well as meet the new hired guns. WOW. Again, WOW. Granted, musicians are "a dime a dozen" in LA, but these guys are truly amazing. Needless to say, when meeting the guys, I was quite flattered to hear, "Oh yeah, we've heard Tom talk about you a lot." WHAT?!?! My reply, twice, was "I'm glad I flew out here and you guys didn't suck. In fact, I loved it." Another genuine smile from both guitar players. "Floored" is the best word I can think of to describe the overall experience of the night.

AND ON TO THE MAIN EVENT...

While at the show, I met Toni, the woman I came out here to work for. Again, super nice. Granted, she's paying me, but I still think I'm a good judge of character, and she is terrific. I'm really excited to be working with her and can't wait for all of you to hear this. This will undoubtably be some of my best work.
Right now I'm working on a track that is inspiring. It's 2:30 a.m. (3:30 a.m. Utah time) and I'm making tremendous progress.
I miss my Mom, my brother's, my sister and her family, Lindsey, Longshanks, J-Bone, and Juab. I wish you could all be here with me. You'd be proud.

Are We More Than A Grain Of Sand?

So a friend of mine (Eric Williams) wrote this amazing song, called "Master Plan". It immediately caught my attention to say the least. I love the musical composition as well as the lyrical content, believe me, we've all been there, done that. I loved the song so much I got in touch with him and asked him for the master files, so that I could make some sort of attempt at a remix. For those of you who don't know what a remix is, it's like re-writing a song to fit your own taste. You keep certain elements, you delete some, you add some. Most often these days, what you hear on the radio is usually a remix of the original version. So after about three days (a new record for me) I finished this mix. Let me know what you think, comments are welcome...

The Sound Of The Future!

A friend of mine sent me this in an email a few days ago, and I have not been able to stop thinking about this! There are soooo many amazing uses for this, it blows my mind! If you care even the slightest about sound, like music, movies, plays, concerts, anything you can imagine, then YOU NEED TO SEE THIS. This man is going to change the world, and I couldn't be more excited. I hope I can be patient enough. Let me know what you think about this!
